Julia is a transactional attorney specializing in general corporate and financing matters (for profit and non-profit) and is the chair of CyberlawStudio, the firm’s intellectual property, new media and entertainment division. Julia has worked extensively with foreign and domestic clients ranging from individuals to established or startup businesses in the fields of software, internet, wireless, branding, fashion, entertainment, music, health & fitness, food and non-profit in their dealings with companies which include Fortune 500 companies, government institutions and sophisticated investors such as Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Major League Baseball, major record labels, Conde Nast, Getty Images, PBS, Playboy Enterprises, East Timor government, Copyright Office of Liberia and Icahn ventures. Julia is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Notable Transactions & Experience

  • Represented a video game studio in setting up its initial corporate and financing structure, negotiation of development and licensing agreements with major game distributors and publishers, copyright and trademark registrations of marks and proprietary materials and negotiation of employment agreements and intellectual property rights assignments for its executives, programmers, graphic designers, music track composers, sales and marketing personnel and interns
  • Represented a NIH sponsored clinical research software developer in its negotiations with VAR, institutional licensees, web hosting and help desk service providers
  • Represented an on-line social networking site in obtaining rights clearance to all site content (music, video, images, blog text) and advised client on website terms of use, privacy and e-commerce issues. Advised client on private equity/debt structuring and negotiated all investor-related agreements
  • Represented a seasoned U.S. music producer in the negotiation of new media publishing rights with a renowned Beijing wireless entertainment company
  • Represented U.S. hydrogen technology venture in connection with joint venture matters with Taiwanese hydride manufacturer.
  • Represented senior model agent executive in the negotiation of employment and stock option agreements with previous and current international model agencies
  • Represented a non-profit startup with its incorporation, obtaining 501(c)(3) status and subsequent negotiations and document preparation arising during the course of its activities with foreign governments, the United Nations, non-governmental agencies and the international academia
