Mark Terry Of Counsel

Mark Terry is a member of the Florida Bar, thereby admitted to all state courts in Florida. Mark is a member of the 2007 inaugural class to be Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law by the Florida Bar. Mr. Terry is also currently a member of the Florida Bar Intellectual Property Certification Committee, which is the body charged with vetting applicants for board certification, as well as preparing the exam taken by the applicants.  As a recognized expert in patent and trademark law, Mark Terry is regularly featured in publications and journals. Last year, Mark Terry was voted as a Rising Star in the field of Intellectual Property Law by the SuperLawyers legal publication.  Mr. Terry started his career as a software engineer for the engineering firm of Trident Systems in the Washington D.C. area. For over five years, Mr. Terry researched and developed numerous software applications for the Army, Navy and Department of Defense in a wide variety of areas.

Mr. Terry continued his career as a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  He was a member of Technology Center 2700 and examined patent applications for a wide range of technologies including database access, data storage, database management systems and data display methods. As a Patent Examiner, Mr. Terry graduated from first year Examiner training at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Patent Academy. While at the USPTO, Mr. Terry worked on multiple controversial and high profile cases, including patent applications related to Y2K solutions and Amazon patent applications.

Before founding the Office of Mark Terry, Esq., Mark worked as a patent associate for the prestigious Florida law firm of Holland & Knight. With more than 1200 lawyers throughout the United States and abroad, Holland & Knight is among the 10 largest law firms in the world and the second largest law firm in Florida. At Holland & Knight, Mr. Terry continued representing large blue-chip corporations, such as IBM, Motorola and Dole USA in the areas of patent preparation and prosecution, trademark prosecution, and the like.
